Dr. George Z. Kyzas is a Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the International Hellenic University (IHU). He was born in Drama (Greece) and studied Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). He obtained his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees from the same Department expertised in Chemical Technology. He is now working at the Department of Chemistry (International Hellenic University, Kavala, Greece), being the Head of the Department (since 2019). He is also Director/Chair of the MSc in Cosmetic Chemistry (since 2021). His research interests include the synthesis and characterization of various (majorly adsorbent) materials (inorganic, aluminates, polymers, graphene, activated carbons, agro-food residues, nanomaterials, CNTs, etc.) for environmental applications (wastewater treatment). His scientific work has been published in more than 235 Papers in international journals with high impact factor (IF,ave 6.5), while he published 8 Books, 39 Chapters in scientific Books and holds 3 Patents. He was also 11 times Guest Editor at Special issues of journals and has more than 150 Announcements (Invited) in International Conferences. His work is widely recognized with 14,000 Citations (h-index 67). He is the Editor of the journal "Environmental Science and Pollution Research" (Springer, IF 5.190). His name is included in the list of World Top 2% Scientists for 2019, 2020 and 2021 which is compiled by the Stanford University (USA) based on standardized citation indicators. His name is included in the list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2022 (Thomson Reuters - Clarivate WoS) [0.1% most impactful Scientists in the World] He has been awarded with scholarships from the Research Committee of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2009, 2013), the Greek State Scholarship Foundation (2013) and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (2016). He has also participated in about 25 research projects. He is a Reviewer in more than 200 scientific journals (ACS, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Taylor & Francis, etc) and participates as Chair of Expert Panelists and Assessor/Evaluator/Reviewer in National, European and International research proposals/calls/projects.

Dr. Mohammad Shahidehpour is a University Distinguished Professor, Bodine Chair Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Director of the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). He has over 40 years of experience with power system operation, planning, and control and has completed several major projects for the electric energy sector. His project on Perfect Power Systems has converted the entire IIT Campus to an islandable microgrid. Dr. Shahidehpour was the recipient of several technical awards including of the IEEE Burke Hayes Award for his research on hydrokinetics, IEEE/PES Outstanding Power Engineering Educator Award, IEEE/PES Ramakumar Family Renewable Energy Excellence Award, IEEE/PES Douglas M. Staszesky Distribution Automation Award, and the Edison Electric Institute’s Power Engineering Educator Award. He has co-authored 6 books and over 800 technical papers on electric power system operation and planning, and served as the founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. Dr. Shahidehpour is the recipient of the 2009 honorary doctorate from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest. He is a Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), and an elected member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE). Dr. Shahidehpour is a foreign Fellow of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering and a foreign Fellow of the Iran National Academy of Sciences.He is also listed as a highly cited researcher on the Web of Science (ranked in the top 1% by citations demonstrating significant influence among his peers).

Prof. Qing Wang received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago in 2000. Prior to joining the faculty at Penn State in 2002, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Cornell University. Among other awards, he has received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award and Penn State Faculty Scholar Medal in Engineering. His research interests include the development of ferroelectric polymers, electroactive polymers, and dielectric polymers and nanocomposites for energy harvesting and storage. Prof. Wang is a Fellow of AAAS and IEEE.

Prof. Yang Wenming is currently the Dean’s Chair Professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. He is also the editor-in-chief of Energy Engineering and Associate Editor for the ASME Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbine and Power.His research interests include: development of Lower Temperature Combustion (LTC) Technologies, fuel design and its application in internal combustion engines, combustion and emissions control of biomass boilers and coal boilers etc. He has authored/co-authored more than 370 papers in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences, of which, more than 300 papers are SCI index, and most of his papers are published in top 10% journals. His papers have been cited by more than 15600 times with a H-index of 64. He is currently the Principal Investigator or Co-PI for 15 competitive research grants funded by National Funding Agencies and Ministry of Education of Singapore, worth more than $30 million US dollars. He has won a series of awards including the Dean’s Chair professor, 4 times of scientific progress award (2nd prize) by the Ministry of Education of China and the Society of Mechanical Engineering of China; two papers was awarded the best paper by Applied Energy (Elsevier) in 2014 and 2016 respectively; He is also the regular reviewer for a lot of peer-reviewed reputable journals such as Nature, Nano Energy, Applied Energy, Energy Conversion and Management, Fuel, Combustion and Flame, Progress in Energy and Combustion Sciences etc.

Prof. Hongwei Wu is an Associate Professor in the School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Scienceat University of Hertfordshire (UH). Hongwei is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS), a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI), and a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He is a member of the UK Turbulence Consortium. Hongwei's research mainly focuses on Advanced Cooling Technology, Energy Conversion and Storage Technologies, Renewable Energy and Energy System, Battery Thermal Management System (BTMS), Two Phase and Multiphase Flow, Fluid-Solid Conjugate Heat Transfer, Modelling/Simulation methods (CFD)-DNS, LES, MDS, Optimisation and Process Control, AI-Machine Learning (ML)-Deep Neural Networks (DNNs). He has published more than 150 papers with over 110 peer-reviewed journal publications. He serves as Editor/Editorial Board Members of many International Journals and serves as general Chair/co-Chair and session Chairs/co-Chairs, OCM and TPC members at many International Conferences.

Dr. Lin Chen is now a full professor in the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and jointly at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. He is currently one Board member of Experts Commission of China Energy Society. He obtained his B.E and PhD from Peking University. He was previously a JST-CREST and JSPS Research Fellow and an Assistant Professor in Tohoku University, Japan. His current research topics include energy resources and equipment, supercritical fluids, Hydrogen energy, and advanced measurement technologies. He has authored over 200 well-cited papers and 20 patents and 7 chapters, 3 books, including the most famous one on energy conversion (“Handbook of Research on Advancements in Supercritical Fluids Applications for Sustainable Energy Systems”, IGI Global, 2021, 821 pages). He served and 8 times as major organizer and 36 times as keynotes/invited speaker in international conferences/symposiums. He was the winner of the Young Scholar Award of the Asian Union of Thermal Science and Engineering (AUTSE) in 2018 and Research Paper Award of the Visualization Society of Japan in 2022. He is currently an Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Science and Board member of the Journal of Supercritical Fluids (Elsevier).

Since 2007 Anna Pinnarelli is Assistant Professor at the DIMEG of University of Calabria, Italy. Research activity has been mainly focused on: analysis, modeling and simulation in Matlab-Simulink and Ansys Simplorer environments of integrated hybrid systems (from converters to conventional and non-conventional storage technologies); definition and implementation of management models for aggregate systems within the electricity market; development and implementation of enabling technologies for Smart Grids: Smart Meters, electronic power converters for interfacing with the IAFR network, storage systems or IAFRs equipped with storage, designed to operate in aggregate form in order to govern the power flows in the networks and peer to peer power exchanges between them; micro-cogeneration systems based on the use of linear synchronous generators driven by Stirling free piston engines; nanoGrid for Home Application intended for the creation of hybrid power systems capable of integrated all-in-one photovoltaic generators, wind microgenerators, storage systems, special converters for V2H & H2V applications suitable for both off grid and grid Connected applications; implementation and application of models and algorithms for Demand Response in the Smart Grid environment; Implementation of control systems for nano Grid to be used for the creation of mini-Grids or micro-Grids with DC or AC distribution; implementation of Energy Management System (EMS) for the management and control (through the use of nano Grid) of the power flows in the distribution networks within the "energy communities" and the exchange of energy between Consumer, Prosumer, Consumage ( r), Prosumage (r) of the same “energy community” (aggregate systems). The research activity is associated with an intense experimentation activity in the laboratory and in the real-life application which has led to the creation of several laboratory prototypes of enabling technologies in the field of smart grids such as nano grids, smart meters and smart PV lighting systems and of a test-facility installed at the campus of University della Calabria. During the research activity there were several technical and scientific exchanges/collaborations with industries of the electrical engineering area, such as for example: SIEL, FAAM, EnelX. As an expert, (since 2013) she is a technical consultant on behalf of Italian Authority ARERA, for the evaluation of the system research projects – RdS. She collaborates with the University of Technology, Wrocaw, Poland and the University of Zaragoza- Zaragoza, Spain, as well as with the research institutes Enea and CNR. Since 2020, she is representative of UNICAL partner within H2020 BRIDGE - Cooperation group of Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Islands and Digitalization H2020 projects. She is acting as Work Package Leader in several National projects. She is the Scientific Coordinator for the Unical partner of the H2020 Project E balance plus. She also acts as Lead and guest editor for special issues associated with international scientific journals, and she has been plenary speaker in several scientific conferences, chair in international conferences and member of scientific committees. She is the author of many scientific papers published in international journals and proceedings of international conferences. She is a co-author of the National industrial patent BI2638M “DISPOSITIVO ELETTRONICO DI CONTROLLO DI UN MOTORE STIRLING DI TIPO FREE-PISTON CON ALTERNATORE LINEARE E RELATIVO METODO DI CONTROLLO”, n° 102016000065916. She is a member of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Consortium CRETA (Regional Consortium for Energy and Environmental Protection) as well as one of the founders of Spin-off Academic CRETA Energie Speciali Srl operating in the field of renewable energy sources. She is member of the Scientific and Technical Committee of Polo d’Innovazione Ambiente e Rischi Natural - NET, having as trajectories: techniques, products and devices for the analysis and assessment of hydrogeological risk and other environmental risks; devices, sensors and solutions for the earthquake protection of the territory; early warning systems and emergency management related to environmental risks; new energy technologies and reuse of scraps and waste to reduce the environmental impact. Since October 2017 she is appointed by the Regione Calabria, as technical expert and support the activity of the Head of the Procedure having the specific technical skills, as part of the implementation of the "Sistema di collegamento metropolitano tra Cosenza, Rende e Università della Calabria". She is carrying out teaching activities in the energy engineering degree courses and in several Masters in the field of smart grids and power electronic converters. She is director of the Master in Sustainable Mobility and Infrastructure Engineering (MIMI Calabria) of the University of Calabria.

Dr. Zijun Zhang received his B.Eng. degree in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in 2008, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. His is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Data Science and Associate Director of Centre for Systems Informatics Engineering at City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China. His research focuses on machine learning and computational intelligence methods as well as their applications in the renewable energy, facility energy management, rail transportation systems, and manufacturing processes. He is a senior member of IEEE. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, IEEE Power Engineering Letters, and Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, as well as the advisory board member of Patterns: Cell Press.

Juan M Gers obtained his undergraduate degree as Electrical Engineer from the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia in 1977. In 1981 he finished a Master’s Degree in Power Systems Studies at the University of Salford in England, and his doctorate with research in distribution systems and automatization at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland in 1998.Dr. Gers founded GERS in 1981, an electrical engineering consultant group with operations in the USA, Colombia, Mexico, and Chile. He has also served as a professor at Florida International University, Gonzaga, Penn State, and University of Valle, and held the position of Viceminister of Mines and Energy of Colombia in 2002. He is the author of the book “Distribution System Analysis and Automation” (2nd Ed) and co-author of the book “Protection of Electricity Distribution Networks” (4th Ed) published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Dr. Gers is a Chartered Engineer of the IET and IEEE Senior Member.

Dr. Yun Yang received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Wuhan University in 2012 and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from The University of Hong Kong in 2017. From 2020 to 2022, he was a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Now, he is an Assistant Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University and an Honorary Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The University of Hong Kong. He is a recipient of Outstanding Presentation Award of IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference in 2016 and a recipient of Outstanding Reviewer Award of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics in 2022. He has authored or coauthored more than 70 technical papers, including 36 refereed journal publications. He also published two book chapters and four patents. Dr. Yang serves as an editor of several journals. His research interests include power electronics, wireless power transfer, renewable energy technologies, electric vehicles, and advanced control.

Philip W. T. Pong received a B.Eng. from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2002 with 1st class honours. Then he obtained a PhD in engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2005. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Magnetic Materials Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for three years. Currently he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).His research interest focuses on the fault detection, predictive maintenance, and anomaly detection of power grid. He is the Founding Director of the Green Technology Research and Training Laboratory, leading the research and education activities of offshore wind energy at NJIT. Philip Pong is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (FInstP), a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI), a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM), a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (FHKIE), a Fellow of the NANOSMAT Society (FNS), a chartered physicist (CPhys), a chartered engineer (CEng), a chartered energy engineer, a registered professional engineer (R.P.E. in Electrical, Electronics, Energy), and a Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE). He serves on the editorial boards for several IEEE and SCI journals.

Dr. Chongchong Qi is a professor at Central South University, China. He received his PhD degree from The University of Western Australia, Australia. After that, he visited several universities around the world as a visiting scholar, such as Inha University, South Korean. The research topics of Dr. Qi includes industrial waste recycling, sustainable cementitious materials, applied artificial intelligence, etc. Dr. Qi, together with other collaborators, announced the idea of Machine-Learning Aided Design for Cemented Paste Backfill, which has been broadcast by leading news media (i.e., Google News, Bing News and Yahoo Finance). Dr. Qi has published over 100 peer reviewed SCI papers and has also served as associate editor or editor board member for 4 SCI journals.

Invited Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra and a Researcher at the Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamics (ADAI-LAETA). Obtained a PhD degree in Sustainable Energy Systems from the University of Coimbra. For the last 10 years, worked on around 10 R&D projects (in collaboration with private companies) related to i) cogeneration systems for residential applications and ii) carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies.

Alireza Ghasempour has been a faculty member in the Information and Communications Technology department at the University of Applied Science and Technology for more than 10 years. He has extensive experience in research, teaching, and executive positions.
